Last March, Auto Nation Group and Fiat Chrysler Asia Pacific gave off-road enthusiasts and adventure seekers a treat by unveiling the new-generation Jeeep Wrangler Sport and Unlimited Sport. Now, the legendary American off-road vehicle maker gives buyers the top-dog of the Wrangler lineup, the jeep Wrangler Rubicon, launched today at the 15th Manila International Auto Show at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

You can tell that this rig is a Jeep from the get-go with its unmistakable profile, complete with the 7-slat grille and removable aluminum hood, doors, roof, and other trim pieces. While it looks more aerodynamic in form, the windshield can still be easily dismantled with the rearview mirror and GPS antienna intact—useful for venturing out into the great outdoors.

Step inside and you’ll be greeted by the signature dash with the Jeep steering wheel, 8.4-inch infotainment display, and other bits that won’t look out of place in a luxury SUV. Those heading out won’t miss staying in touch with the world as the UConnect 4 user interface allows easy smartphone and device integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Buyers can choose from either a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 motor with 286hp and 353Nm, or a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 with 268hp and 400Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and come with off-road ready gear such as Rock Trac 4x4 with a 4LO ratio of 4:1, as well as Tru-Lock locking differential. It also comes fitted with front and rear skid plates, tow hooks, and winch.

While it may look rugged, the new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is loaded with a full suite of safety kit that includes blind spot detection, electronic stability control, backup camera with dynamic grid lines, and the like. It’s meant to keep occupants safe both on and off the beaten path.

The new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is available  at all Jeep dealerships in the following variants with their corresponding prices:

  • Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with 3.6liter V6 4-door: P4,390,000
  • Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with 2.0liter inline-4 4-door: P4,490,000
  • Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with 3.6liter V6 2-door: P3,990,000
