The Honda CR-V was introduced in the ASEAN region only last April. Yet it has already proven its worth, particularly when it comes to safety. This is backed by no less than the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (ASEAN NCAP).
The fifth-generation Comfortable Runabout Vehicle didn’t just garner a stellar five-star rating, it likewise did so under the new ASEAN NCAP rating system. The Honda CR-V scored 88.8 points.
The new system now uses a single rating that consists of Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) (50%), Child Occupant Protection (COP) (25%), and Safety Assist Technology (SAT( (25%). Honda’s compact SUV attained 47.25 points for AOP, 22.84 points for COP, and 18.71 points for SAT.
This new rating, which takes effect from 2017 to 2020, simplifies things vis-à-vis the old dual rating system. This eliminates the practice of manufacturers highlighting the higher rating and neglecting the lower one.
As for the Honda CR-V, it is equipped with the usual SRS airbags, Electronic Stability Control, and blind spot warning, among others. Honda has also unveiled its Honda Sensing suite of safety technologies. These include Lane Keep Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Collision Mitigation Braking System.
The Honda CR-V was launched in our country just a few weeks ago.
