It’s hard to believe that Toyota’s RAV4, one of the purveyors of the compact SUV segment is now 25 years old. Moreover, it now enters its fifth-generation with an all-new model that was launched sometime last year. Now, this new iteration finally comes to the Philippines.
Looking bolder and more striking, the more youthful RAV4 has a front fascia that is dominated by a large grille and tapered headlights. The side profile is sleeker, with fender flares and new alloys to boot. And the rear features restyled taillights that are in sync with the new look.
Riding on the Toyota New Global Architecture, the 2019 RAV4 sits closer to the ground and has an equally low center of gravity. The new platform likewise promises improved stability and rigidity with better handling, says Toyota.
Powering the new Toyota RAV4 is a 2.5-liter Dynamic Force Engine that puts out 203hp and 243Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via 8–speed auto gearbox that promises more grunt and improved fuel economy.
Apart from the new, sportier vibe and drivetrain, the RAV4 also boasts high-end features such as power-adjustable driver’s set with memory, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, leather seats, and smart keyless entry and start, just to name a few. These complement the suite of safety equipment that consist of the usual aBS and stability control, along with 7 SRS airbags, a reverse camera, and 8-eye front and rear parking sensors.
