With various automakers putting forward their respective Modern Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) as part of the government’s PUV Modernization Program, leading truck body builder Centro Manufacturing Corporation likewise showed off what is has to offer in support of the PUV for the new millennium.
Seen at the recently concluded Mdern PUV Caravan that kicked off last July 4 at SM Clark in Pampanga, Centro’s very own modern PUV was a marvel of mdern tech that aims to provide safe and reliable transport for the Filipino. Equipped with the latest gadgets such as CCTV cameras, dashcams, automated fare collection systems, GPS, and airconditiong, the mode of transport can easily seat 23 or so passengers in comfort.
Apart from these, Centro ensures that it is PWD-friendly and can easily accommodate the differently abled. Moreover, its side-facing door will make ingress and egress much safer as one does not have to alight or depart in the line of traffic.
The PUV Modernization Program is being pushed by the Department of Transportation and the Land Transportation Franchsing and Regulatory Board. As for the Modern PUV Caravan, it will be done in several phases, with Phase 1 set to tour Luzon this July and August. Centering around the theme Modern PUV: Arangkada ng Pagbabago Tungo sa Kaunlaran, the Caravan aims to showcase what Filipinos can expect to see on our roads—a mass transport solution of tomorrow.
