The Nissna Sylpjy has been in our market for quite a few years now. It is a more-than-decent alternative to the likes of the Toyota Corolla Altis and the Honda Civic. Nissan, however, wants to change its image a bit as it unveils a different kind of compact sedan—one powered by a fully electric motor.

The Nissan Sylphy Zero Emission Vehicle debuting at Auto China today isn’t just your typical compact with an electric motor placed underneath the sheetmetal. On the contrary, this one utilizes the innovative Nissan Leaf’s platform and electric mil. The battery, Nisan says, is placed under the seats to free up interior space.

While not too many details have been disclosed about the Sylphy Zero Emission, the Japanese carmaker did say that this model could do as much as 338kms on a single charge. Moreover, some cool tech bits will allow the driver to send audio and video (a selfie in their Sylphy, perhaps?) to the infotainment system using their smartphone.

For now, though, the Nissan Sylphy Zero Emission Vehicle will only be sold in the Chinese market.
