Back in 2016, Ford Philippines opened its very first technical training facility, located at the Don Bosco Technical Institute in Makati. Together with the Ford Motor Fund and Global Giving International Grant Program, the institute took in underprivileged yet deserving students who would undergo training to become automotive technicians.
After 18 months of hard work, the pioneer batch of 23 students has finally graduated from the Don Bosco Makati Technical Vocational Education and Training Center. Each of these scholars received full educational funding from Ford and its partners, amounting to some P1.7 million.
The said program witnessed these individuals receive on-the-job training at Ford EDSA, Otis, Commonwealth, and Balintawak. Here, they were exposed to actual tasks performed on Ford vehicles, as well as other activities such as team building resume writing, leadership training, and job interview workshops. All these were under the watchful eye of well-trained Ford personnel.
At the end of the said course, Ford will work with AMCHAM Foundation in order to help give these students employment opportunities.
