With the number of vehicular accidents constantly rising over the past years, road safety has become a major issue. This is why many groups have been advocating this cause.
One of the longest running campaigns has been that of Ford Philippines and its Driving Skills for Life program.
Now on its 12th year, it once again returns to teach more Filipinos how to be safe on the road.
As with past events, Ford, together with partner Tuason Racing School, aims to reach a good number of private individuals, public utility vehicle drivers, fleet managers and drivers, and traffic regulators about being safe while there.
The nationwide program will be educating drivers about proper road manners, dealing with various driving and road conditions, along with accident avoidance techniques. It will likewise show drivers a thing or two about how to avoid getting distracted behind the wheel.
The lecture and hands-on sessions will also tackle basic vehicle maintenance, as well as getting up to speed on traffic signs and laws.
It essentially reminds everyone how to behave while behind the tiller.
This, in turn, could help save lives.
Launched in 2003 in the United States by Ford Motor Company Foundation, the US Government High way |Safety Association, and different safety experts, it eventually saw daylight in the country in 2007. Since then, it has taught some 23,000 Filipinos the value of being safe on the road.
