The Department of Energy, together with Petron corporation, the Automobile Association of the Philippines and the Car Awards Group Inc., once again put some of the industry’s best diesel vehicles to the test by pitting them against each other in a fuel economy run dubbed Petron Tri-Action Performance Run-Diesel Edition.
One of the participants was the For Everest, which came out in the top 3 out of 10 vehicles with a fuel economy rating of 27.21km/L. The week-long run saw the vehicles drive through the winding and elevated roads of Baguio to Ambuklao and Baguio to Halsema—the highest point in the country’s highway system. There was also a Baguio to Manila run during the period.
Apart from this, the group also used a different type of diesel fuel for four days. This was meant to see which one was the most efficient and gave the best performance. Drivers didn’t know which fuel they were using, however. Moreover, the test involved driving normally—no escorts and other tricks. Drivers simply drove as they would on a daily basis.
The results, says Ford Philippines, simply show how fuel efficient its midsize SUV is. This just goes to show that it is a fine mix of power, peroformance, safety, and fuel efficiency.
