As far as Ford Philippines is concerned, road safety and responsible driving are important. This is the reason why it created the Ford Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) back in 2008, to educate as much motorists as it can about how to exercise driving discipline to pevent road accidents.
Of note, the program has helped over 20,000 drivers under its wings. And the company has announced that in 2017, the DSFL has reached out to more than 3,000 people in different areas nationwide. In review, Ford now has introduced the program to such locations as Pampanga, Batangas, Cebu, Davao, and various schools in and around Metro Manila.
2017 also marked Ford’s partnership with Uber Philippines, a transport network vehicle service (TNVS) company. The partnership attracted over 700 Uber drivers who were taught the fundamentals of road safety, defensive and responsible driving, and more.
In addition, more public utility drivers (those who drive jeepneys, taxis, and buses, among others) took part in the program last year. That’s because the program was beefed up to consider driving scenarios that a PUV driver experience every day.
Of course, the success of the Ford Driving Skills for Life program wouldn’t be successful in the Philippines without the help of Tuason Racing School (TRS), its official driving school partner. With the help of champion racecar driver JP Tuason, all Ford DSFL graduates are empowered with knowledge and discipline to be as safe and responsible as they can be on the road. These would make them as role models for the Filipino motorists and yes, these do make them look cooler on the road.
A typical DSFL session is of 2 parts; a classroom session and a hands-on session. The former is where drivers get to experience lectures. The latter, meanwhile, is where drivers would put the lessons learned into actions.
