Chinese SUV and commercial vehicle maker FOTON, through its official local distributor United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI), recently opened its newest dealership in Cebu. It’s called FOTON Talisay which also goes by the name FOTON Cebu South.

To date, FOTON Cebu South is the brand’s 2nd outlet in the region, following the 2013 opening of FOTON Mandaue on the northern part of the province. But why set up another shop in Cebu?

The answer is in the region’s evidently strong development in terms of commerce, trade, and auto industry. UAAGI capitalized on this positive industrial growth, seeing the region’s increasing demand for commercial vehicles to drive forward its economy.

“We will continue to offer our growing line-up of vehicles, and provide Southern Cebu with excellent customer service with the same dedication that we’ve embossed in our existing 25 dealer network across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao,” said UAAGI President Rommel Sytin.

FOTON Cebu South is owned and operated by Gateway Group, a local automotive sales company best known for catering Cebuanos with its extensive sedan line-up. It runs under the watchful eyes of Markane Goho, its Dealer Principal.

In detail, FOTON Cebu South stands on a 2,400 sq meter lot. This facility is divided into 2 phases; the passenger vehicle phase and the light- to heavy-duty commercial vehicle phase.

The former is where sales of the brand’s passenger vehicles like the Thunder pickup and Toplander SUV takes place. The latter, meanwhile, is where commercial vehicles like the Tornado are being sold and serviced. Do note that the facility’s 2nd phase is still in the works, and should be open to serve by Q4 of this year.

The inauguration of FOTON Cebu South also marked the launch of the Tornado M light-duty truck variant. Exhibiting the riding comfort of a car with the strength and versatility of a truck, the FOTON Tornado M boasts commendable safety features, convenience amenities, and a Euro 4–compliant 3.8L Cummins Blue Energy diesel mill.

Looking forward to the eventual success of FOTON Cebu South, the brand is eyeing another slew of dealership expansions, particularly in Davao. According to Sytin, his company, in partnership with Gateway Group, will soon be opening dealerships in the region’s Bohol and Sasa areas by the 4th quarter of this year as well..
