It all began in 2003 when the first-generation Mercedes-Benz CLS created a new segment in the automotive industry. Known as the four-door coupe, the car was wide and low, just like a sports car. Yet it had the practicality of a four-door sedan.
Fast-forward to 2017 and Mercedes-Benz debuts the third-generation CLS at the Los Angeles Auto Show. While still retaining the overall low and wide profile, this one takes a few styling cues from the vaunted AMG GT sports car. The shark-like forward slanting front end, along with the tapering shape of the greenhouse towards the rear give it a unique yet still functional design. Keen onlookers will also note that the new CLS employs softer shapes than its predecessors.
Just like the outside, the cabin is bold and functional at the same time. This being a Merc, it’s got loads of goodies , such as a 12.3-inch multimedia infotainment display, the latest smartphone connectivity and wireless charging systems, and ambient lighting that also includes the air vents And yes, Mercedes-Benz wanted to make things a bit more special in here by throwing an analogue clock made by IWC.
