The Fintech Philippines Association (FPH) held its first Financing and Lending Forum for 2024. The event was live-streamed via Facebook to engage a wide virtual audience.
The forum brought together industry leaders from Global Dominion Financing, Inc., SB Finance, and Mount Fuji Lending to share insights on growth & development, digital transformation, and risk management in the financial sector. Speakers included Patricia Poco-Palacios, President & Managing Director of Global Dominion Financing, Inc., Mikael Nieves, President of Mount Fuji Lending, and Mikal Rallonza, Head of Product Management & Business Development of SB Finance, who provided their expertise from leading financial institutions.
“We've been dedicating more time and effort to digital transformation, a considerably critical aspect of our business. We see technology as a driver to improve our operations, making loan applications a lot simpler and more convenient, consequently improving customer experience,” said Poco-Palacios.
“[Companies] need to have the proper bandwidth to align with the digital adoption of its target customers. The most important thing is the relevant digital tools [too],” Rallonza stated during the event.
“In terms of managing risk and being able to check that balance, […] is proper due diligence […] and then really getting better at it. And for us, we follow this triangle of validation, a minimum of three for you to be able to validate any information that you have or any information that you consider in making a sound credit decision. You never assume, everything is always validated,” according to Nieves.
Students from various universities also participated virtually and engaged with industry experts. An icebreaker activity encouraged active participation from the audience. A panel discussion was moderated by Aian Guanzon a member of the Fintech Philippines Association.
By involving both current professionals and students, the event aimed to enrich expertise in the finance sector while inspiring the next generation.
