Since 1919, Goodyear has been at the forefront in providing the then-budding Philippine automotive industry the trusted line tires it needs to roll. Fast-forward to this year, the American tire brand, through its official local distributor Goodyear Philippines, Inc., is still enjoying that prestige with honor and excellence as it celebrates its 100 years in the industry.
Here’s a bit of a throwback to put things in context. Good year Philippines started the operations in the country in 1919. This move later affected the motoring industry in a positive way by providing superior quality tires in the market. As it grew to become a leading tire company worldwide, Goodyear expanded its Philippine network to the point of putting the country in the map as the lead warehouse distributor for neighboring nations such as China, Japan, Indonesia, among others.
In 1956, another milestone was achieved when Goodyear Philippines invested in building a $12-million plant in Las Piñas. The same year also marked the first tire produced in the country, the 6.00-16 6PR that was developed for the iconic Philippine jeepney.
As years went by, Goodyear Philippines continued to improve and reinvent itself to be the industry leader it is today, providing quality tires for passenger cars, SUVs, and more.
In 2016, the Goodyear Autocare service center was introduced to the public and to date serves as the after-warranty, quick-service center for customers who value quality tires and service. A year later, its Worry-Free Assurance Program was established to provide utmost care and excellent services such as 24/7 roadside assistance, personal accident insurance, and road hazard warranty, to name a few. And just last year, it launched the Assurance TrippleMax 2, a special tire with the new HydroTred Technology, which is optimized for excellent grip performance with short braking distance under wet road conditions.
