The year 2017 seems to be a stellar year for Honda Cars Philippines Inc. This observation is backed by the slew of awards and recognitions received by the Japanese brand from the various award-giving bodies in  the country.

First up was the all-new, fifth-generation Honda CR-V. This erstwhile compact SUV bagged no less than five awards early on in its model life-cycle. Introduced only a few months back in the local market, the CR-V managed to grab recognitions like the 2017 Best Crossover AWD trophy from the Car Awards Group Inc. (CAGI) for the SX Diesel AWD, the 2017 Best Crossover 2WD for the S Diesel 9AT (also given by CAGI), Top Gear Philippines’ Favorite Reader’s Award, Auto Focus People’s Choice Award Best Compact SUV, and the coveted Car of the Year Award from CAGI.

The hot Civic Type R, meanwhile, took home C! Magazine’s Best Driver’s Car, joined by CAGI’s Best Sport Compact prize. And the new Honda sports sedan won the much sought-after Car of the Year trophy, this time from Top Gear Philippines.

Meanwhile, Honda’s subcompact 7-seat SUV, the BR-V, has also bagged quite a few awards a year after it was launched in the country. It garnered the Auto Focus People’s Choice Awards Best Subcompact SUV, as well as CAGI’s 2017 Best Compact Crossover in the 2WD category.

The BR-V’s Brio platform twin also bagged the Auto Focus Media’s Choice Award for Best Engine in the Mini class, while the best-selling Honda City got the Best Subcompact prize from the Auto Focus People’s Choice Awards.

Speaking of Honda sedans, the 10th-generation Civic was awarded three times by Auto Focus. First was the People’s Choice Award for Best Compact, while the other two were Media’s Choice awards. One was for Best Design, compact sedan, and the other was the Best Engine Performance trophy, also in the Compact Sedan class.

More awards were given by Auto Focus, this time for the Accord, Pilot, and Odyssey. The Accord got the People’s Choice award for Best Midsize Sedan, while its Pilot stablemate bagged the Large SUV of the Year prize. The Odyssey, on the other hand, was bestowed the People’s Choice award for Luxury Van of the Year. It also managed to take home the Media’s Choice award for Best Value for Money for a Luxury Van.

The people and the media have spoken. All these awards prove that Honda is a formidable force in the automotive industry
