How fuel efficient is this vehicle? This is the question many car buyers ask when choosing their next ride.

Well, if you’re eyeing a Honda, you’ll be pleased to know that two of its vehicles have been rated to have excellent fuel economy.

The Honda Brio 1.2 V CVT and the Honda BR-V S CVT returned stellar figures during the recently concluded Fuel Economy Run organized by Honda Cars Philippines nc and the Automobile Association of the Philippines.

Subjected to highway and night driving conditions over a distance of 231.45kms, the Brio returned a miserly 24.39km/L while the seven-seat BR-V achieved 22.58km/L. To make things more realistic, both vehicles were drivien at speeds between 60-80kph at 1,500-2,000rpm. Moreover, the airconditioner was set at 50 percent fan blower speed.

Both HCPI and the AAP said that the results are noteworthy as the BR-V is the most potent in its class at 120hp yet still a gas miser. The Brio, on the other hand, may have class leading space yet its 1.2-liter mill was definitely a fuel sipper.

The event was put together to help would-be car shoppers gain more information about their next purchase. With this, they won’t be left in the dark about how fuel efficient (or a guzzler) their prospective vehicle would be.

Of course, these figures are merely a guide as actual consumption numbers will depend on factors such as driving style and road conditions, just to name a few.
