The Gran Turismo Sport video game has had a long-standing tradition of introducing cutting-edge race cars, essentially known as Vision Gran Turismo models.  Marques such as McLaren, Peugeot, and Alpine are just some of the names that come to mind. The latest one is Japanese carmaker Honda, which fields the Sports Vision Gran Turismo.

Penned by the folks at Honda’s Los Angele design studio, the Sports Vision GT traces its styling origins to both the computer screen and the wind tunnel. The former for simulation, while the latter to ensure that aerodynamic efficiency is up to spec. Final testing was done at the Honda headquarters in Japan.

The sleek form is not just for show, mind you. Honda claims that the car weighs in at just 899kg, thanks to the use of carbon fiber all throughout the body. This makes the car a true featherweight, easily propelled by the 403hp 2.0-liter DOHC VTEC motor. All that power is sent to the drive wheels by an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

While the Honda Sports Vision Gran Turismo may reflect the company’s Power of Dreams tagline, those hoping to drive the car may just have to content themselves with dong so on the latest Gran Turismo Sport game. For now, the concept remains just that—a dream.
