Last September, Hyundai Asia Resources Inc (HARI) called on students and professionals to show their creative side via the first-ever Digital Art Competition. Now, the Korean carmaker’s Philippine arm presents the winners for this prestigious contest.
The contest takes its cue from HARI’s very own marketing campaign entitled Gusto Mo, Gusto Ko, Kaya Ko., which was launched in 2016. As the campaign evolves into Gusto Ko, Kaya Ko, Sama Tayo this year, HARI also taps into the creative juices of the Filipino people.
The two-part competition sees artists creating works under the theme Vision of Future Self under Round 1. Here, around 250 entries fought for entry into the Round 2. The second round focuses on the aforementioned HARI marketing tagline, with the roster of entries being trimmed down to 12 finalists.
The 12 finalists each received a cash prize of P15,000, a certificate, as well as their work being featured in print/online format and exhibits. They likewise got the chance to attend a workshop given by Jowee Alviar, Team Manila Creative Director, and Ateneo de Manila University Instructor Meneeer Marcelo. Here, they learned a thing or two about storytelling and graphic design.
During the grand finals held at the Marriot Hotel Grand Ballroom last December 6, 2017, Lariz Santos, Keith Magnaye, and Harrison Espina bagged the Gold, Silver, and Bronze trophies, respectively.
