As timely as the headlines over the weekend about Boracay Island’s re-opening last October 26, Isuzu Philippines Corporation took the opportunity to turn over three units of its modern public utility vehicle as part of the island transport modernization program.

IPC and Grab, the leading ride-sharing app in the country and region had a ceremonial turnover at the Bolabog Terminal in Boracay. Besides being a symbolic gesture, the turnover marks the initial implementation of the hop on, hop off transport system that will help both foreign and local tourists and residents get in and around the island safely. It’s all in line with rehabilitating the island, not just its environment but how people live their lives on this island paradise.

Based on the Isuzu QKR77 chassis, the modern PUV uses a body made by Almazara Motors Corporation. Compliant with standards set by the Bureau of Product Standards, the 23-seater airconditioned jeepney boasts of a spacious interior with side-facing seats, ECE-compliant headlights, brakes, steering, and other mechanical components, as well as panoramic windshield and windows that give passengers a better view of the island’s surroundings.

These are complemented by modern amenities such as a dashcam, LED monitors, a reverse camara, a fire extinguisher, and a CCTV system. All these are designed and put in place for passengers’ comfort, safety, and peace of mind.

Expect to see the Isuzu modern PUV ply the route around Boracay Island’s Circumferential Road.
