Lotus cars have this ucanny reputation of being some of the sportiest in the business. Yet this type of fun does come at a rice. At times these cars can be harsh and rather uncomfortabel for the daily grind.

There are exceptions, however, such as the newly introduced Lotus Exige Sport 410. Think of it as a tamer Exige Cup 430 that seems more liveable for everyday use. We say this as the car gets a slew of ugrades from the sportier Cup 430 yet is tuned with softer settings.

The same 3.5-liter supercharged V6 finds its way under the engine cover. In this application, it musters 410hp and 420Nm of torque. Power is coursed to the drive wheels via 6-speed manual with the signature exposwed gear-change linkage. This allows the car to hit 100kph from rest in 3.3 seconds and a 290kph top speed.

Slotting above the Exige 350 in the model lineup, the Exige Sport 410 gets the Cup 430's oil cooler and larger clutch. It likwwise gets Nitron adjustable dampers and Eibach adjustable anti-roll bars. The former is tuned to make the car a tad more comfortable on the road without losing that razor-sharp handling.

Tipping the scales at a featherweight 1,054kg, the Exige Sport 410 utilizes a load of weight-saving measures such as a titanium exhaust that cuts weight by some 10kg, as well as a slew of carbon fiber panels and bits. Speaking of carbon fiber, these are used on the seats, with either Alcantara and leather or pure leather as upholstery. The steering wheel is likewise done in Alcantara while Lotus offers options such as airconditioning and connectivity options for the infotainment system.

More options come in the form of racing equipment that would help make this car a track-day special.. You can get stuff like a fire extiguisher, electrical cut-off switch, and a four-pointt racing harness. Dealers will also fit an FIA-compliant roll cage if you so desire.

The Lotus Exige Sport 410 is now available to order.
