It is no secret that a number of car brands bagged more than a few awards at the recent Car of the Year—Philippines. And one of these marques is Mazda, which garnered top honors in several categories.

First up was the Mazda2 V+ Hatchback. This may only be the midrange variant, yet it managed to walk away with the Best Subcompact of the Year Award from the Car Awards Group Inc. Motoring journalists praised its cool tech and looks, as well as sharp yet comfortable ride and handling. Plus, the 2015 Car of the Year—Philippines once again ranks high in this contest, this time helped in no small part by innovative kit like G-Vectoring Control. This one helps give it more stability and more fluid reflexes.

Next up was the Large Crossover of the Year, which went to the all-new Mazda CX-9. The seven-seat crossover wowed the judges with its sharp Kodo Soul of Motion looks, Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter turbo motor, and overall premium feel.

Last but definitely not the least is the vaunted Mazda MX-5, particularly the new RF or Retractable Fastback version. The best Sports Car for 2017 combines the joys of open-top motoring with a power folding hardtop for added all-weather security.

With these awards, Mazda once again proves the award-winning spirit of Zoom-zoom.
