The Mazda CX-3 is one of those vehicles that blends style, a bit of practicality, and that fun-to-drive character that Mazda is known for. It’s been around for quite a few years and in true Mazda fashion, another refresh is order. Enter the updated Mazda CX-3.

So what’s new this time around? Apart from the revised grille, lights, bumpers, and wheels, Mazda has put in place tech from its SkyActiv Vehicle Architecture parts bin. More specifically, it tweaked the suspension to help improve ride  comfort while enhancing cornering and handling.

Moreover, Mazda says it increased structural rigidity that likewise aids in better handling. And the front seats have been updated to provide more support and absorb those harsh imperfections. Revolving around the Exquisite and Edgy theme, Mazda likewise gave the engines a bit more oomph while improving efficiency.

There is now a new 1.8-liter SkyActiv-D diesel motor on offer. This complements the revised 2.0-liter SkyActiv-G gasoline lump that has been tuned with edge-cut pistons and high-dispersion injectors. In plain English, what all this simply promises is better power delivery, higher torque, and increased fuel economy. It also boasts lower CO2 emissions.

Just like any Mazda, safety has been enhanced to help give the driver total confidence behind the tiller. The new Advanced Smart City Braking Support function now has Night Vision capability that detects obstacles and pedestrians even in low light conditions. It works in tandem with other safety systems to provide a stress-free and safe journey.

For those that want something different in their CX-3, Mazda will be offering the Exclusive Mods Special Edition package.  This one adds Nappa Red leather to the white interior for an air of sophistication and style. It will sit at the top of the CX-3 range, says Mazda.

The updated Mazda CX-3 is now available to order—if you live in Japan, that is. But we’re quite sure Bermaz Auto Philippines will bring this one in soon.
