Last December 2017, Bermaz Auto Philippines, Inc. (BAP), the exclusive distributor of Mazda vehicles in the country, held its 4th annual Mazdatech Philippines Customer Service Skills Competition. It took place at the Philippine Trade Training Center in Pasay City.

In brief, the Mazdatech skills competition aims to boost BAP’s customer after sales and service performance via inter-dealership skills contests. It challenges its participants with activities like written and hands-on competitions. These would not only improve the participants’ client-handling and technical knowhow, but also promote camaraderie between the company’s workforces.

The 4th Mazdatech Philippines Customer Service Skills Competition attracted challengers from 12 of BAP’s dealerships nationwide. Each dealership put forth a team consisting of 2 Service Technicians, a Service Advisor, a Dealer Customer Relations Center (DCRC) Representative, a Parts Advisor, and a Warranty Administrator.

The 24 Service Technicians were subjected to a barrage of challenges that tested their mental and practical skills. These include quiz bees, written exams, and role-playing/hands-on competitions. The aforementioned challenges were all exciting, but much excitement was felt during the hands-on competitions as these showcased the participant’s skills on troubleshooting faulty vehicle components

When the dusts settled, it was team Mazda Pasig which took home the top spot, which means that it will represent the country in the regional competition to be held in Thailand later this year.

As for the Service Advisor and DCRC contests, a series of role-playing challenges were laid out to demonstrate how the participants would handle client queries and related tasks. The former was dominated by team Mazda Davao/Cagayan de Oro, while the latter saw Mazda Quezon Avenue taking the top spot.

Top honors were also given to team Mazda Cebu and team Mazda Davao in the Parts Advisor and Warranty Administration contests, respectively. That’s because Mazda Cebu demonstrated exemplary skills in parts numbering and forecasting. Mazda Davao, on the other hand, beat all the teams with its warranty processing skills, among others.

Finally, the 4th Mazdatech skills competition also held its first Sales Consultant. In review, a Sales Consultant’s role is as vital as the rest in the workforce at he/she makes sure that all customer and after sales service processes are kept in check, adhering to Mazda’s high standards of service. For this contest, team Mazda Greenhills was hailed as the first ever winner.
