Under the wings of its official Philippines business arm, The Covenant Car Company, Inc. or TCCCI, British car brand MG has released its latest 2020 report. Despite the challenge brought by the COVID-19 pandemic and its subsequent lockdown that almost crippled the Philippine economy, MG’s 2020 so far is filled with good news.

First on the list is its sales performance for the first half of 2020 (H1). MG Philippines experienced growth in its sales performance versus the same period in 2019, with a total of 1,801 vehicles sold (as compared to 1,784 units sold in H1 2019.)

Of the total vehicles sold in H1 2020, the MG ZS Crossover took the biggest slice of the pie at 56% of the total unit sales. But with growing market requirements expected in the second half of 2020 (H2), the brand’s other offerings such as the MG 5 sedan, RX5 SUV, and MG 6 Fastback Sedan are sure to bring in more good stuff.

“The very positive response of the market strengthens our resolve to continue our efforts to introduce new models, communicate exciting offers, and to establish a dealer network that will provide an excellent ownership experience for our clients. Acknowledging the evolving lifestyles of our motoring public as a result of the changes in our mobility dynamics and needs, we at MG will be firm in ensuring the quality of the ownership experience of our clients with focus on the safety and security of our MG community of dealer partners, stewards and guests,” says Atty. Alberto B. Arcilla, President and CEO of MG Philippines.

Arcilla’s statement holds strong bearing as MG Philippines’ report also said that it will remain poised, coming into H2 of 2020.

As regard, its strategy includes increasing the number of dealerships in its roster, with plans to open an additional 6 new dealerships in various locations nationwide before the end of 2020. These additions will supplement the 6 dealerships already added in H1 2020, namely: MG Congressional, MG Sucat, MG Bacoor, MG Calasiao, MG Marilao, and MG Bohol. By the end of 2020, a total of 30 MG dealerships will be operational, nationwide.

Lastly, the MG ownership experience is now supplemented by innovative aftersales services relevant to the current COVID-19 landscape. These include MG Online Garage: a service which allows MG owners to engage in a video call with an MG technician for at-home car diagnosis and troubleshooting; and MG Online Chat service: a function on the MG Philippines website, www.mgmotor.com.ph, which allows users to engage in a live chat session with MG personnel to discuss any related inquiries.

While health experts advise the general public to practice social distancing and to stay at home, MG Online Garage and MG Online Chat Service allow MG owners to remotely enjoy certain aftersales services they would have once availed of at physical MG dealerships.
