Nissan has been considered as a global leader in electric mobility as of late. Its Leaf fully electric vehicle has sold over 350,000 copies since its debut in 2010. Now on its second generation, the Leaf continues to lead the way with better range and more power, as well as offering a cool Nismo version (which is still electric, of course).

Now, Nissan moves forward with  the electric side of its Intiligent Mobility thrust by partnering with e.dams for its very first foray into the world of electric street car racing. The Japanese car company will join forces with one of the most winning team in the world of European open-wheel racing and try to make a significant mark in the ABB FIA Formula E championship.

The e.dams team, for the uninitiated, is a Le Mans, France-based team that has won the Team Championship trophy together with Nissan’s own alliance partner, Renault, during the first three seasons of the Formula E series. Nissan and e.dams will try to replicate this achievement and then some as they enter the series beginning this December.

Even now, the team is already conducting testing and putting the finl touches on the new Formula E racer known as Gen2. The more potent electric race car also boasts of longer range in between charging, thus helping eliminate the midrace swap that used to take place during the early days of Formula E.

Get to see the Nissan-e.dams team in action in the Formula E series beginning this December.
