Fans of the Nissan brand are in for a treat as the Japanese carmaker just unveiled a pair of vehicles that hint at added performance in their respective classes. We refer to the Nissan 370Z NISMO and Juke NISMO, which were revealed at the ongoing 7th Philippine International Motor Show at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
Yes, you read that right: the Z car is back ion the country. And in NISMO guise no less. Taking cues from the fabled GT-R NISMO, this one gets aerodynamic bits that are both stylish and functional at the same time. These not only help the car look good but improve efficiency and driving dynamics as well.
Powering the new Nissan 370Z NISMO is a 3.7-liter V6 motor with variable valve event and lift control or VVEL in Nissan-speak. This mill produces 350hp and 365Nm of torque. Apart from the straight-line power it promises, the engine is backed up by goodies like NISMO strut tower braces, and dampers that give it better rigidity and reduce vibrations and harshness, respectively.
Joining the Z car is the new Nissan Juke NISMO. Yes, the high-performance version of this quirky little crossover makes its way to the country with a more aggressive stance and a host of NISMO body effects. Under the hood is the more potent 1.6-liter turbo powerplant that puts out 190hp and 240Nm, mated to a CVT gearbox with eight simulated gears. This engine-transmission combo results in a claimed 0-100 time of some 7.5 ticks.
