For quite some time now, the internet has been abuzz with rumors regarding Nissan’s upcoming pickup platform vehicle. While Nissan has not hidden the fact that it will indeed be coming up with such a vehicle, what many did speculate about was how it will look like. Well, wonder no more as the Japanese carmaker itself has revealed a few teaser images of its soon-to-be-released Terra SUV.

The said Sport Utility Vehicle is what Nissan calls a frame-based SUV. This means it will use a ladder-on-frame chassis just like the Navara pick-up with which it shares its underpinnings. As you can see, it possesses the V-Motion grille up front, giving it a familial resemblance to other Nissan vehicles.

While the side hasn’t been fully revealed just yet, you can see hints of ruggedness mixed with sophistication. And Nissan does confirm that this will be a rugged, authentic SUV. Reading between the lines, this simply means that this ute can rough it up in the great outdoors yet will still be at home in the urban jungle and even at the posh country club.

The Nissan Terra will be part of the brand’s frame and Light Commercial Vehicle business. This division is said to make up for one in every six Nissan vehicles sold. And with the new Terra, Nissan hopes to increase global sales by as much as 40% by the year 2022.

The Nissan Terra wil be unveiled later this year in China. Other Asian markets will follow shortly thereafter.
