Smart keyless entry systems are nothing new. In fact, cars that use sensors to detect the presence of the key fob on one’s person and grant access to unlock and start the vehicle have been around for quite some time now. Hyundai Motor Company, however, is taking things a step further by using one of the safest security systems known to man—one’s fingerprint.

Hyundai’s fingerprint access technology works by recognizing one’s fingerprint signature as the means to lock/unlick the vehicle and start the engine. Aside from this, the fingerprint signature can be used to set certain functions like steering column position, temperature, infotainment preference, and the like. All these will be called up once the vehicle detects the said person’s fingerprint.

The security level is likewise taken into consideration by recognizing one’s electricity level within the finger. This helps avoid hacking occurring from faked signatures. In short, your vehicle won’t open or start unless it detects the presence of your very own finger.

Hyundai is set to take the next level of vehicle security to market real soon. Ths system is set to be rolled out first in certain markets via the all-new Santa Fe.
