The mere mention of the words race car often bring to mind expensive toys for the big boys. Add to that the Italian orgins and you’ve got the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Pagani coming to mind. But what if there was an affordable all-electric race car that was on offer?

This is where a company called Spice-X comes into play. The company puts forward the Spice-X SX1, an all-electric race car which it says will be affordable. Hailing from Piedmont, Italy, Spice-X says that its little race car will tip the scales at just 600kg. That’s practically a featherweight in today’s auto industry.

Penned by Fabrizio Pepe, the racy look is complemented by an innovative drivetrain consisting of two electric motors, each driving the rear wheels. They each produce 40hp and 160Nm of torque. Depending on the battery pack used (either 330kw or 450kw), the car can reach a top speed of 160kph or 210kph. While these aren’t exactly mind-blowing numbers, keep in mind that this is a lightweight, low slung number.

At present, Spice-X has not revealed any pricing. It did, however, say that this will be an affordable race car for everyone. Yes, who says only the moneyed set can have all the fun?
