Suzuki Philippines, Inc. (SPH) has put quite a statement when it launched the new and improved Ertiga MPV early this year. Built using the basic structure of its latest Swift subcompact, the new Ertiga boasted not only a refreshed design inside and out, but also a bevy of new goodies to make journeys all the more fun.

To prove the point, the Japanese brand recently invited a group of the country’s leading motoring pundits on a 2-day stay at the scenic Tagaytay Highlands. The agenda was for the journalists to feel for themselves the riding comfort, efficiency, and functionality of the new Ertiga on real Philippine roads.

Numerous guests were invited from a wide variety of media platforms such as radio, TV, print, and online. Among them were JamesDeakin.PH’s Erica De Zuzuarregui (Sales and Marketing Director) and Paolo Lesaca (Photographer/Videographer). The media team started off the adventure early morning of January 31 at the Suzuki Auto Pasig showroom. There, 15 units of the new Ertiga were ready and waiting. Soon, they headed off, forming a convoy, and tackled the streets and highways leading to the location.

According to Erica, the Suzuki Ertiga’s new looks had her thumbs up of approval. As per its ride, she stated that the machine was quite responsive and was able to deliver the right amount of power and torque as needed, especially when passing other vehicles on the highway. This is due to the Ertiga’s peppy 1.5L inline 4-cylinder gasoline motor that brings out 103 hp and 138 Nm of torque.

When the convoy reached the destinations, SPH people presented numerous challenges spanning the uphill and downhill roads of the Highlands. Erica shared that she found the steering quite impressive and was not too heavy, given the MPV-ness of the Ertiga. She even remarked that it’s as if she’s driving a passenger car. Of course, it being an MPV entails practicality in mind. Of this, she detailed that the cargo space was at par with its rivals in the market.

But the thing about the new Ertiga that got her attention the most was its suit of interior amenities, most especially the infotainment system and air-cooled cup holders (a novelty that used to be only exclusive to luxury cars). She was able to tinker with the infotainment and enjoy the ride with her choice of drinkable refreshment while accomplishing the challenges SPH has laid out.

As it stands, the new Suzuki Ertiga is now available in the local market with a starting price of P728,000. The choice of colors includes Cool Black Pearl Metallic, Burgundy red Pearl, Silky Silver Metallic, Radiant Red Pearl, Snow White Pearl, Magma Grey Metallic, and Glorious Brown Pearl. Erica noted that this set of colors was also one of the Ertiga perks she likes.
