It was a stellar sales month for Nissan Philippines Inc last August as the Japanese carmaker’s Philippine arm posted its best performance in quite a long time. NPI saw 4,500 vehicles leave showroom floors—its best ever since the year 2000.
This sales blitz was likewise a continuation of an equally strong July rally when NPI posted a 2,869 sales figure. Moreover, the August output was a 104 percent increase over last year’s performance. This was led by the Nissan Navara, which accounted for 38 percent of total vehicle sales. This also made the Nissan truck the best-selling pickup for the same period
During the same period, the all-new Nissan Terra took up second spot, accounting for 21 percent of total volume. It will be noted tht this is the first sales month of the new midsize SUV. If this is anything to go by, it shows that this new offering has a lot of potential and should bring in the numbers for Nissan in the next few months.
All told, the strong August sales performance brought Nissan to the third spot in total industry sales. At this rate, it could find itself having a record year for 2018.
