There is this growing trend in the automotive industry that leans towards seven-seat Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs). We’re not just referring to large, pickup-based utes anymore but smaller, car-based ones as well. The Honda BR-V comes to mind. And now, the Toyota Rush arrives, in its third generation, in Indonesia.
First seen in 1997 as the Daihatsu Terios, the Rush is Toyota’s take on the seven-seat subcompact crossover. The look is made up of sweeping lines, upswept headlights, a dark chrome grille, and that signature Toyota demeanor. There is a Sportivo model that adds touhes like body moldings and 17-inch alloys.
The seven-seat cabin gets goodies like a 7-inch touchscreen display, automatic climate control, a two-tone dash, and pushbutton starter. Power points in each row make connected life easy as everyone can charge their device while on the go.
The Toyota Rush will be powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder motor with Dual VVT-I, capable of producing 103hp and 136Nm. This little lump is mated to either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox.
The new Toyota Rush and its Daihatsu Terios platform twin are now available in Indonesia. Question is, whill they ever find their way to our market?
