UM, a relatively new motorcycle brand in the Philippines, recently opened its flagship showroom along Ortigas Avenue in Greenhills, San Juan. Owned and operated by the Autohub Group which also distributes such car brands as Lotus, MINI, and Rolls Royce, the said showroom inauguration also highlighted the brand’s full model line up.

In review, UM is a US-based motorcycle brand founded by Octavio Villegas Llano back in the year 2000. In its 17 years of existence, it has put forth many safety and tech innovations that made it one of the more successful motorcycle brands in the industry today.

These innovations include the AFS and the 360-Degree Illumination. The former prevents tire punctures, while the latter basically serves as daytime running lights (DRL) that provide greater road visibility for pedestrians and fellow motorists at all times. These LED lights are fitted on the headlight, fuel tank, and tail light.

In addition, UM also created the Intelligent Dash Board that alerts the rider of important vehicle information like automated vehicle maintenance alerts and shift indicator. For safety, the brand also thought of innovating a keyless anti-theft system for motorcycles and blind-spot monitoring system to alert the rider of vehicles behind him or her before turning of changing lanes. Finally, another innovation credited to UM is te USB charger for mobile devices. Best part about this is that the feature, along with all the others mentioned above are standard across the brand’s entire model line up.

In the Philippines, UM boasts 10 models for business and leisure as its introductory offering. These include the DSR 200, Renegade Sport 150 and 200, Renegade Sport S, Renegade Classic 150 Scrambler, Renegade S 150 Scrambler, Renegade Commando 300, Nitrox 150, Hypersport 200, and the Adventure 150. All bikes come with competitive pricing and after-sales perks that UM pegs would challenge the local motorcycle industry dominated by Chinese and Japanese makes.
