Asian Carmakers Corporation (ACC), the exclusive local distributor of BMW vehicles, recently began its 2017 Roadshow, a series of mall displays featuring its latest models and lifestyle merchandise. In light of this, the German brand took the chance to unveil its latest addition to the 2 Series family, the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer.

What’s special about the Gran Tourer is that it’s the country’s first ever 7-seat luxury MPV. As such, ACC even unveiled it with the theme ”drive for greater adventures,” which gave a hint of its capabilities.

On the outside, its design is almost identical to its little brother, the 2 Series Active Tourer, apart from small detail differences at the front, side, and back ends. However, the glaring difference of the Gran Tourer against the Active Tourer is its dimensions.

For starters, it’s around 214 mm longer and 53 mm higher than the Active Tourer. It also has a significantly longer wheelbase, measuring at 2,780 mm. Because of this, BMW was able to fit in a 3rd row of seats at the back so drivers can bring along the entire family or friends circle for a ride.

Speaking of passengers, the Gran Tourer beckons its occupants with a slew of leather on the seats and door panels. Moreover, its higher roof line and longer wheelbase permit extra head and leg rooms, especially on the 2nd and 3rd rows. Alternatively to those who need ample amounts of loading space, its 3rd row seats can be folded down, which opens up a total loading capacity of 1,820 L.

Under the hood, the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer is motivated by a twin turbocharged 3-cylinder gasoline engine which makes 136 hp and 220 Nm of torque. This power plant is controlled via 6-speed automatic transmission that drives the front wheels.

In addition, drivers can choose from different modes that alter the vehicle’s behaviour on the road. By pressing the Driving Experience Control switch, one can choose between ECO PRO, SPORT, and COMFORT modes.

To know more about the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer, check it out on display at the 2017 BMW Roadshow at these dates and venues; November 10 to 12 at the Lucky Chinatown Main Mall Atrium in Manila, November 16 to 19 at the SM Mall of Asia Block 12 in Pasay, and November 24 to 26 at the Alabang Town Center Plaza in Muntinlupa.
