The Volante Vision Concept is Aston Martin’s answer to a traffic solution

Although we may feel like Metro Manila has the worst traffic situation in the world, the truth of the matter is that we are not alone. Yes, our streets may be gridlocked at nearly all hours of the day. But rush hur traffic jams are a daily occurrence in most major cities. It’s pretty much a by-product of progress and rapid urbanization.

This is why automakers like Aston Martin are coming up with solutions to ease this urban nightmare. No, not a Waze-type of app that will help you avoid traffic but something even cooler—a personal luxury aircraft. Yes, the Aston Martin Volante Vision Concept is your very own mobility solution that can take you up, up and away from the traffic mess down below.

Designed specifically for an urban setting together with Cranfield University, Cranfield Aerospace Solutions, and Rolls-Royce Aerospace (not the luxury automaker), the Volante Vision Concept will utilize Vertical Take Off and Landing (VTOL) that will allow it to take flight and land even without a space-consuming runway. Unlike most small aircraft, however, this one will boast advanced autonomous technology and will be powered by electricity. Yes, it is practically penned to be future-proof.

While all this may sound really cool, Aston Martin doesn’t have any plans of producing the concept—yet. For now, it’s a design study that shows us how future generations could get around the urban jungle. As for us, we’ll just have to be content with using aps like Waze and bear the daily chaos on our roads.
