The Volkswagen Golf GTS (or Grand Touring Sport) may have only been introduced last May. Yet it has managed to take the local market by storm, catching the eyes and capturing the hearts of car enthusiasts who love the fun-to-drive character of the vaunted Golf but need the versatility of a wagon.
Not content on its success, however, Volkswagen Philippines gives the market a new variant in the form of the Volkswagen Golf GTS Highline. Bearing the Highline moniker means that this model is packed with features that give it a premium vibe while making life truly comfortable for its owner.
The front end, for instance, gets bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights, complemented by foglights with cornering lamps. Rain-sensing wipers, two-way power adjustable backrests with lumbar support for the front seats, three-spoke leather steering whel, Keyless-Go, paddle shifters, and steering wheel-mounted multifunction controls are just some of the goodies that have been crammed into this versatile and stylish number. Oh, and let’s not forget the 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Fender audio sound system with 8 speakers and subwoofer.
The Volkswagen Golf GTS Highline is still powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged direct injection (TDI) diesel motor that puts out 150hp and 340Nm, mated to a 6-speed DSG transmission. This being a Golf, driving fun is assured by strut and three-point wishbone suspension, 15-inch disc brakes, and electromechanical speed-sensing power steering. And yes, the GTS body style adds 350L of cargo space—even with the seats up.
The Volkswagen Golf GTS Highline is still available at ore-excise tax prices that start at P1,340,000. Of course, this is only until stocks last.
