With every new BMW model, an M-badged iteration naturally follows. And as the German luxury carmaker gears up for the market release of the latest-generation 5-Series in February of 2017, it is also set to reveal the M550i. But before that happens, BMW has already unveiled a slew of M Performance accessories for the different 5-Series variants.

The BMW 540i and 540i xDrive, for instance, can be had with a Power and Sound Kit that boosts horsepower by 34hp to 360 horses while torque is up by 50Nm to 500Nm. The diesel versions, particularly the 530d and 530d xDrive, also get an output boost by 27hp to 292hp and 30 more Nm, resulting to 650Nm.

Besides the power upgrade bestowed on the gasoline and diesel six-cylinder motors, the other part of the equation is the sound part that adds circular or trapezoidal stainless steel or carbon fiber exhaust tips. The silencer not only provides a cool look to the car but naturally gives off an equally pleasing exhaust note, says BMW.

Of course, a stronger engine needs an equally capable braking system to wash off all that speed. The M Performance package adds perforated disc brakes with 4-pison aluminum fixed calipers up front and single floating calipers at the rear. This setup makes for better heat resistance and fade-free performance even under heavy braking.

And what is an M Performance package without aero bits to aid in making the car look good and more slippery through the wind? The front bumper, rear diffuser, and carbon fiber trunk spoiler are just of the goodies that can be ordered to spruce up the executive sedan. One can also specify black side sills and the same rear wing finished in polyurethane. These pieces are complemented by a black radiator grille, carbon fiber mirror caps, blacked-out brake air channels, M Performance side sill stickers, and side accent stripes. The look is finished off by 20-inch double-spoke alloy wheels in either Orbit Grey or a bi-color design.

The M Performance touch extends to the cabin with an Alcantara sports steering wheel with red central accent on the 12-o clock position. Plus, the whole slew of luxury and tech features come standard or as optional extras with the car.

The BMW M Performance Accessories Package can be ordered through the BMW dealer network.
