Ford Philippines continues to show its strength in the local automotive market as it closed April 2017 with a total of 2,613 vehicles sold. This notably high monthly sales feat is largely in part due to the strong consumer demand for its EcoSport, Everest, and Ranger models.

Leading the charge in April was the EcoSport. Its year-over-year (April 2017 vs. April 2016) sales grew by 4% or a total of 866 units sold. This, in turn, contributed to its year-to-date (January 2017 to present month 2017) sales increase of 25% or 3,333 units sold.

The 5-seater EcoSPort is Ford Philippines’ contender in the local subcompact crossover segment, a relatively new field which it pretty much started since its launch in 2014. It’s built around the Ford Fiesta platform and is motivated by a 1.5L inline 4-cylinder engine and a choice between a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed Powershift automatic transmission.

Also among the top-selling models in Ford’s fleet last April is the Everest. Ford sold a total of 848 units of the Everest last April, which was the reason behind its year-to-date sales increase of 3,588 units.

Built using the design and engineering schematics of the Ranger, the Everest is the brand’s challenger in the local midsize SUV segment. It has room for 7 occupants and can also carry around 2,010 L of maximum cargo, making it an ideal ride for out-of-town trips with family and friends. It’s available in 4x2 and 4x4 variants with a choice between a 2.2 L or a 3.2 L diesel engine. It also comes with a 6-speed transmission in either manual or automatic.

On the other hand, the Ranger managed to close April with a sales record of 731 units. As a result, its year-to-date sales saw a total of 2,884 units, a 13% increase over the same period in 2016.

Exhibiting a strong show of force in the local pickup segment, the Ranger is both tough and practical. As a workhorse, it can haul up to 1,120 kg of cargo on its deck – the right kind of vehicle to carry sacks of cement and crates of fruit, among others. It can also present itself as an ideal ride for the adventurous as its deck can fit camping gears, scuba diving gears, and even riding gears for the bike aficionado. Similar to the Everest, the ranger is available in 4x2 or 4x4 variants with either a 2.2 L or a 3.2 L engine under the hood. A 6-speed transmission is also available with a choice between a manual or automatic.

Finally, sales of the Explorer premium midsize SUV and the Mustang pony car flourished in April as well. The former charted a sales number of 90 units while the latter closed the month with 24 units sold.
