When one thinks of pickups, the Ford F-150 somehow springs to mind. It has set the standard by which all pickups are based. And now, Ford reveals an all-new model for 2018.

The new Ford F-150 promises to be tougher, with weight-saving military grade aluminum alloy body panels and high-strength steel boxed-in frame. This makes the truck really rigid while allowing it to be lighter on its feet. This means it can be agile yet still rough it up when called upon to do so.

The tough innards are backed up by a revised front end with new grille and headlamp design, sculpted tailgate, and a more sophisticated body. The cabin also gets new colors like Dark Marsala for a more premium feel. Apart from these, a few segment-first features make their way to the new Ford truck. You’ve got stuff like smart adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, pre-collision warning with pedestrian detection, available B&OPlay infotainment system, and 4G LTE wi-fi are just some of the things that make the pickup smarter and safer.

Then there are goodies like 360-degree camera views to aid drivers out on any road, along with blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, and other tech toys. Driver confidence is further heightened by a new range of engines, including a new 3.3-liter direct-injection V6 with 282hp and 343Nm. Buyers can also choose between an economical yet powerful 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine or a 5.0-liter, naturally-aspirated V8. Both mills are paired with the segment-first 10-speed automatic gearbox. The 2018 F-150 will also come with a new 3.0-liter PowerStroke diesel lump for the utmost in efficient yet potent motoring. And yes, start-stop technology is offered across the range.

The new Ford F-150 will debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit
