The practice of training deserving students to help develop their skills and employ them later on is nothing new in the automotive industry. Some of the brands that come to mind are Porsche, with its tie-up with Don Bosco, and Isuzu Philippines Corporation. Both these firms have had a few batches graduate and go on to become certified employees at their various dealers and services centers.

The latest carmaker to join the fray is Kia Motors, through the initiative of its exclusive Philippine distributor, Columbian Autocar Corporation. To date, two batches of On-the-Job Traineers (OJTs) have trained and graduated under its Dealer Development Initiative. In fact, the latet set of fresh grads were recently honored in a simple ceremony to mark their moving up in the world.

Present for the ceremony is Mr. Jose Lugtu-NSD Manager (far left) , Roberto Garzon Jr.-Technical Trainer (2nd from left), Mr. Lorimer Angeles- Crossroads Training Institute, Inc. (far right), Mr. Arnel Salonga-Business Development OIC (second from right), Ms. Ginia Domingo-CAC President (third from right) and Mr. Apollo Rosal-Aftersales Director (center back).

The second batch of On-the-Job Training (OJT) members have the opportunity to be hired by CAC in its various dealers and become part of its operations network.
