When it comes to motorcycles, no other name is arguably more famous than Harley-Davidson. The two-wheeler’s name alone elicits images of free-spirited individuals riding their big bikes out on the open road. And they’ve got a rip-roaring soundtrack to boot.

But just how did it all begin for this American icon? Discovery Channel gives us an inside look via a miniseries entitled Harley and the Davidsons. It is the story of Walter and Arthur Davidson and their friend, Bill Harley—founders of the company that rolled out the all-time favorite motorbike. It reveals how they overcame the odds—both external and within themselves--just to earn fame and respect.

Walter Davidson, for instance, was a daredevil who put the bikes to the extreme test. Bill, on the other hand, needed to break free from his over-protective parents. All three were determined to prove that their Harley-Davidson was a bike that could take people anywhere—even it was first built out of a shed in Milwaukee during the turn of the 20th century.

Harley and the Davidsons stars Michael Huisman (Walter Davidson) and Robert Aramayo (Bill Harley)—both of whom starred in Game of Thrones. Arthur Davidson is played by Little Rascals star Bug Hall. The miniseries is produced by Dimitri Doganis (Raw Television) and John Goldwyn (Discovery Channel). Evan Wright, Nick Schenk, and Seth Fisher wrote the script while Stephen Kay directs.

The miniseries premiered last October 2 on Discovery Channel.
