Honda Cars Philippines Inc (HCPI) closed 2016 on a high note as it reports a rousing 20% increase in sales compared to the same period last year. From an already impressive 19,315 units rolled out in 2015, HCPI vehicle sales grew to 23,199 the following year.

The tremendous performance can be attributed to its stellar showing last December, where 2,805 Hondas came out of dealer showrooms across th country. The Japanese carmaker credits this to the introduction of the all-new BR-V, which has already had some 2,000 reservations since it debuted at the 6th Philippine International Motor Show last September. The start of deliveries a few days before Christmas saw some 717 BR-Vs hit Philippine roads.

Another sales leader was the all-new, 10th-generation Honda Civic. It has sold some 2,500 examples since it was unveiled mid last year. The style, power, and features are the main reasons why Filipinos have chosen the erstwhile compact sedan.

And of course, the overall sales leader Honda City continues to dominate the Honda charts, with 8,913 Citys coming out of the Santa Rosa, Laguna plant in 2016. Apart from the rapid sales, HCPI was recognized by several award-giving bodies, including the Car Awards Group Inc, which bestowed the coveted 2016 Car of the Year trophy on the all-new Civic.

With this kind of performance, it looks like Honda is ready to take on bigger things in 2017.
