The year was 1963. The vehicle was the T360 mini truck, produced at the Saitama Factory in Japan. This was what started it all for Honda Motor Company Ltd in the area of automobile production. Since then, the Japanese vehicle maker has rolled out some 100 automobiles from various factories around the world.

In that very same year—1963--, the S500 mini sports car also began assembly, along with the T360, which was Honda’s first mass-produced model. This was soon followed by other milestones, such as employing advances in production and vehicle technologies derived from research and know-how since the company’s inception in 1948.

In 1975, the Honda Civic—yes, the vehicle everyone seems to love nowadays—started in 1975 in Indonesia. The Honda Accord, meanwhile, became the first automobile to be produced in the United States by a Japanese carmaker. This took place in 1982 in Ohio. Since then, the Accord has gone on to be one of the best-selling nameplates, not just in Honda’s stable but in the American car market.

Apart from the Civic and Accord, Honda has likewise produced other models that are well-loved today. These include the Jazz/Fit. City, CR-V, Pilot, HR-V, CR-Z, and lately, the BR-V. Honda’s product range has grown by leaps and bounds and caters to a wide audience. It’s no wonder the brand has reached 100 million total global sales.

And the rest, as they say, is history.
