Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) begins the second quarter of 2017 with a refreshed version of its compact Active Sport Crossover, more popularly known as the ASX. The stylish little Mitsu, which first saw daylight in the country back in 2010, now gets a nip and tuck to keep it fresh and ready to face the competition.
The changes begin with an updated front fascia that now sports the brand’s signature Dynamic Shield design language. This gives it a more powerful and stylish look. This is flanked by Super Wide Range headlamps with retractable washers. It is likewise complemented by 18-inch two-tone alloys, and a large Panoramic Sunroof with LED Illumination on the GSR variant.
Stepping inside reveals a sporty yet sophisticated cabin that is clad in either black fabric with red stitching for the GLS, or black leather with red stitching for the GSR variant. Either way, the driver gets white meter gauges with LCD info screen, a 6.75-inch infotainment touchscreen interface, and dial-type climate controls.
All Mitsubishi ASX variants are still powered by the tried-and-tested 2.0-liter 4B11 four-cylinder motor with Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control or MIVEC system. This piece of tech makes for a potent yet economical engine that develops 150hp and 197Nm of torque. It is mated a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with Sports Mode that can be controlled by Magnesium Paddle Shifters mounted behind the sporty three-spoke steering wheel.
The 2017 Mitsubishi ASX retails for P1,195,000 for the GLS and P1,295,000 for the top-spec GSR variant. For more information, log on to Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation website.
