We all know the MINI Clubman to be the most practical model from the iconic British brand. The shooting brake design, five-door configuration, and five comfy seats are just some of the things that make it an everyday conveyance with MINI flair. But what if you could put a hint of performance into the package?
This is what MINI did when it unveiled the MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) Clubman. The motorsport-bred JCW combines the everyday practicality of the Clubman with a generous sprinkling of driving fun. The latter comes from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder motor with MINI TwinPower turbo, putting out 231hp. Mated to either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic gearbox, the compact MINI scoots from rest to the century mark in 6.1 seconds.
What makes the latest-generation JCW Clubman special is that it now utilizes the patented ALL4 all-wheel drive system. This affords the driver the surefooted handling that is useful for carving the twisties, as well as offering added security on those slippery surfaces. Of course, the signature go-kart drive is still very much intact, says MINI.
Making things more interesting are a wealth of goodies that simply heighten the entire experience. Brembo brakes, sports exhaust, John Cooper Works Black Grip Spoke alloys, and safety driving aids like Dynamic Stability Control Electronic Differential Lock, Dynamic Traction Control, and Performance Control all come standard.
To complete the JCW touch, MINI threw in exterior cues like air vents in place of park lamps, large side sills, the JCW logo on places like the front grille, a rear spoiler, and a Rebel Green paint job with red contrast stripes. And yes, a long list of equipment come standard or optional extras.
With the MINI John Cooper Works Clubman, you can live out your rally aspirations while taking the family along for the ride.
