Christmas came early for students of two schools in the province of Nueva Ecija as Mahindra Philippines, provider of patrol jeeps for the Philippine National Police and India’s largest vehicle maker, donated a load of goodies to make life just a tad brighter
Some 50 bicycles were donated to high school students of the Maruhat National High School, while 500 pairs of slippers were given to grade schoolers from the Sapang Kawayan Elementary School—both located in Gapan City, Nueva Ecija. Through a partnership between Mahindra Philippines and the Rotary Club of Meycauayan, Bulacan, the students from two of the depressed areas in the province received the gifts through their respective administrators.
What many don’t know, according to the kind folks who donated the presents, was that these youngsters have to endure muddy trails and unpaved roads just to get to school, as well as make their way back home. And they need to experience this every day. Thanks to Mahindra Philippines and the Rotary Club of Meycauyan, the kids now have a sustainable form of transport, along with more decent means to get around.
Truly, we need more souls like these.
