As demand for vehicles continues to grow, Ford Philippines was one of the automakers that saw yet another record year in 2016. Not only was this the fourth straight year for rising sales for the Blue Oval badge, it likewise saw a huge 33% jump over the previous year, with 33,688 Fords coming out of showrooms last year.
The rise in Ford sales was brought about by an equally impressive December blitz, with 3,198 units sold—the best-ever performance in the country to date. The huge jump in demand was also brought about by the stellar showing of its top three models: the Everest, EcoSport, and Ranger.
There were 12,453 Everests that left Ford dealerships last year, equating to a 152% jump in sales. December alone saw a 6% rise in Everest orders—or 1,066 units. The EcoSport, meanwhile, sold 1,123 units in December alone, totaling 10,010 units or a rise of 15% for 2016. And then there was the Ranger, with 8,158 Rangers released.
Besides the three best sellers, other Ford vehicles likewise contributed to the charge. The Explorer, for example, saw sales rise by 8% to 1,030 units. The large Expedition capped the year with an 80% increase in sales, or some 117 Expeds. And the inconic Mustang also had its best year in the country to date, with 319 Pony cars leaving the lot.
Another factor responsible for the impressive performance was the addition of three new dealerships throughout the country. This brings the total number of sales and service centers to 42 across the archipelago. Of cruse, Ford is not about to rest on its laurels, as new dealers are in the pipeline for 2017.
And if all goes well, Ford may just see another blockbuster period this coming year.
