Last year, Toyota Motor Corporation gave the best-selling Toyota Vios a new heart. The change came in the form of new Dual-VVTI equipped engines that were tuned to provide more usable power and more importantly, better fuel economy. Apart from that significant revision, it was practically impossible to tell the latest model apart from its predecessor just by looking at it.
Now, Toyota Motor Thailand gives us a refreshed Vios with a new face and some pretty nifty exterior modifications. From the get-go, you can tell it’s the 2017 facelift with a new set of headlights with LED guides, a revised front bumper with sleek-looking vertical daytime running lights, repositioned foglamps, and a larger lower air intake.
The side remains unchanged, save for some spiffy new wheels and a shark’s fin-type roof antenna. And the taillights are new more premium looking to complete the overall appearance.
Stepping inside reveals the same familiar cabin, albeit with a few new touches that give it a sporty and upscale vibe. Some Vios variants can be had with red accents on the seats and door panels, a touchscreen infotainment system, and automatic climate control. There is even pushbutton start for added convenience.
To cap things off, safety comes in form of the usual dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, as well as Vehicle Stability Assist, Traction Control, and a theft deterrent system.
The refreshed 2017 Toyota Vios is now available for the Thai market. We’re guessing Toyota Motor Philippines won’t be far behind in bringing in a sportier version of its best-selling nameplate.
