In 2015, Asian Carmakers Corporation (ACC), official importer and distributor of BMW vehicles in the country, was the official premium mobility partner for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, which was held in the country at the time. Over 200 BMW 5- and 7-Series were on hand to ferry high-ranking Heads of State to and from their destinations while in the Philippines.
This year, history repeats itself once again, this time for the year-long Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit, which will take place on our shores this year. The ceremony was witnessed by ACC Chairman Emeritus Gov. Jose Ch Alvarez, and ASEAN 2017 National Organizing Council Director General for Operations Marciano Paynor.
ACC will provide a fleet of around 300 BMW 5- and 7-Series, as well as X5 SUVs for use by the various Ministers and leaders of the 10 ASEAN Member countries and dialogue partners. These include Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, and Brunei. They will be joined by dialogue partners Japan, USA, South Korea, and China.
ASEAN 2017 will revolve around the theme: Partnering for Change, Engaging the World, and will focus on priorities such as people-centered initiatives, peace and stability, maritime security and cooperation, inclusive and innovative-led growth, ASEAN resiliency, and ASEAN as the model of regionalism.
