Adventure Cycle Philippine, Inc., the official distributor of KTM motorcycles in the Philippines, has joined this year’s Inside Racing Bike Festival and Trade Show at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. In the said bike fest, the Austrian motorcycle maker has announced some exciting things in store for the local market.
First thing’s first. Did you know that KTM Philippines now has its own manufacturing plant? It recently opened its doors in Biñan Laguna and is set to produce around 200,000 units for local and international distribution.
The second announcement centered on KTM Philippines’ new promo for the 200 Duke. It’s called the Duke ‘em @ 147K, and it gives interested buyers a chance to ride home the KTM 200 Duke with a marked-down price.
KTM Philippines refers to the 200 Duke as its entry-level model. Tipping the scale at 129.5 kg (without fuel), this lightweight pocket rocket is an ideal bike for those who like to travel in and around the city in style. Under the rider’s command is its 199.5cc 1-cylinder 4-stroke engine that’s mated to a 6-speed transmission and is able to deliver 26 hp and 19.5 Nm of torque.
The third announcement, on the other hand, has made things even more exciting. Tapping into the brand’s racing DNA, KTM Philippines proudly introduced Ralph Kenneth Torres, our country’s contender for this year’s KTM RC Cup Asia.
At just 18 years old, Ralph’s racing career has already built a solid foundation since 2006. Some of his notable accolades include an overall championship title in the 2015 Moto IR and a Scooter championship title in 2013 with a Golden Wheel Award that followed the same year. He also bagged the overall Scooter championship title in 2012, as well as the overall championship title in the 2010 Underbone King (115cc category).
The KTM RC Cup Asia is a racing series for aspiring riders who wish to become the next MotoGP champion. It is comprised of 3 categories; Orange, Silver, and Bronze. The Orange category which is open to riders 14 to 22 years old is where Ralph will try his best to dominate. He will be riding an unmodified KTM 390 race bike. The latter 2 categories, on the other hand, have no age limits and have riders using standard KTM RC 390, RC 250, and RC 200 bikes.
The 2017 season of the KTM RC Cup Asia will be green and go from March to November and will take place at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
