While a slew of new cars have been launched and are on display at this year’s Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) 2017, the most anticipated model has got to be the Honda Civic Type R. Unveiled just recently in the global scene, the Type R is admittedly the most iconic Honda that is regarded by many as the Holy Grail, since it was launched in the mid-1990s.
Based on the 10th generation Honda Civic Hatchback, the latest Type R gets large air intakes on the front and rear bumper, side air vents on the front fenders, carbon fiber side skirts, and 20-inch alloys wrapped in 245/30R20 rubber. The menacing yet stylish looks are finished off by a center-mounted exhaust pipe and a large rear wing.
The Civic Type R is motivated by a 2.0-liter direct-injection i-VTEC turbo mill that produces 320hp and 400Nm of torque. Goodies like tweaked power steering, adaptive suspension, limited slip differential, and large Brembo brakes give the car the razor-sharp handling that has made it a legend.
Unfortunately, the Honda Civic Type R is not for sale, yet. Honda Cars Philippines Inc. is still contemplating on whether or not to officially offer it in tis lineup. But if they’d ask the car nuts, the answer should be pretty obvious.
